Copy music from ipod To computer for FREE

If you’re comfortable using Windows Explorer, you can easily move your music from your ipod to your PC (itunes). This is great if your computer’s hard drive crashes and you “lose” your music within itunes. There’s software you can buy that sells for or more out there, but there’s no reason to spend any cash at all. Check it out. Please rate, comment, and/or subscribe to keep the tutorials coming. Rated 5*. Tyvm for this. Couldn’t find any on Vista until yours. Much appreciated.

I’ve been living with an un-updated ipod and no music on my laptop for like 6 months, thought I had no chance of getting it back on my PC. :)

TYVM! This really helped me, thought I had lost all my music for good.

One thing though, 60% of my songs have retained their original file name, while the other 40% hasn’t. The only frustration being while I’m on my Ipod, the songs name’s come up as “AKFM” “AHJR” etc with no other information. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks so much!

By chance, are the other 40% older songs you had put onto the iPod? Meaning, are these songs that you had added to your iPod BEFORE the 60% that are correct? My immediate thought is that this could be a result of software upgrades that occurred after those 40% were added. They may have been “partitioned out” when you may have possibly reset your iPod in the past.

    Ah right, ok.

I now have all my old songs back on my laptop, which is great. But also, 40%~ songs are unnamed on my laptop and Ipod now.

So do you think I have to resort to going through and renaming all of them?

  13. Comment by cookingwithanarchy — March 19, 2010 @ 10:22 pm

@Ozkar200 If the previous scenario I talked about sounds like what had happened with you, unfortunately, it looks like you’ll have to rename them…

I would think it would most likely work to try to downgrade your version of iTunes and then try again. But, depending on how many songs you’re talking about, that might not be the best alternative…. How many songs do you think were affected?

    @cookingwithanarchy
I only have an ipod nano from like 3 years ago, it only had about 170 songs on. I lost all my songs off my PC about 6 months ago so I just never plugged my Ipod into my laptop so it wouldn’t delete them all off of it. They were all fine until when I restored the songs back onto my computer.

Turns out it’s about 50 of the 170 songs.

@Ozkar200 It kind of sucks, but I would probably recommend just renaming the songs manually, in this particular case. The issue you brought up is interesting, though. So I’ll see if I can find a solution and post it here, as well. :)

Rated 5 stars… I will give this a shot tomorrow. When I Imprt what is on my ipod, will it merge with music I recently purchased – but have not yet synced onto my ipod?

  17. Comment by cookingwithanarchy — March 23, 2010 @ 9:22 pm

@Galgarrick It should copy them over to your PC as if it were finding a new folder of songs. If the tracks are already on your PC, then I would expect it would make a duplicate copy of them.

My iphone shows up as a camera how do i cahnge it because i can only see the pictures

  19. Comment by cookingwithanarchy — March 23, 2010 @ 9:44 pm

@daniel5641 I don’t understand. Are you saying that your PC thinks your iPhone is a camera when you go through these steps (these steps are ONLY for non-touch iPods)? Or, is this a separate issue entirely where you can’t get your iPhone out of camera mode?
